Strengthening emissions management.
Hyundai is continually striving to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions both inside and out of our corporate boundaries. We take part in carbon information disclosure through the CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project) and make further efforts to communicate with our stakeholders on climate change.

Managing water resources.
The Ulsan plant plans to reduce wastewater by 300 tons per day and pollutants by two tons per year by recycling wastewater and improving wastewater treatment facilities. The Asan Plant operates a zero-liquid discharge system, in which all the wastewater from the plant and residential areas is reused.

Minimising waste materials.
The Ulsan Plant strengthened its efforts to separate solid incinerated matter and improved the rate of recycling waste synthetic resin from 5.6 per cent to 20 per cent, resulting in an overall recycling ratio of 93 per cent. The plan is to install a CWS waste paint natural dehydration-inducing facility to reduce the volume of waste by around 400 tons.

Reducing hazardous chemicals.
We replaced the sodium nitrite used at our transmission plant, as well as the methanol, boron oxide, and sulfuric acid used at our material plant, with unregulated materials, reducing our year-on-year use of hazardous chemicals by 45 tons. We will continue to replace hazardous chemicals with unregulated ones?now and in the future.

Improvements at the Ulsan Plant.
We built a photovoltaic power generation facility on a finished vehicle lot at the Ulsan?Plant?and are planning to set up power generation facilities with a total capacity of 27 MW. An eco-friendly, once-through boiler system has replaced the fire tube boiler facility at the Maeam?Engine Plant.

Improvements at the Asan Plant.
Our Asan Plant?is making?efforts to minimise?equipment?operation during non-production hours and install high-efficiency equipment to reduce energy consumption and emissions. We invested 550.000 EUR in?installing a heat pump in the paint shop and started a power-saving operation programme to further reduce?greenhouse gas emissions.

Improvements in the Jeonju Plant.
Hyundai?s Jeonju Plant is developing and applying construction methods designed to?minimise?the amount of energy used at its production facilities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We reduced our CO2 emissions by a combined total of 1,039 tons by?installing?high-efficiency equipment and?optimising?the set temperature.
European plants ? less emissions and more sustainability.

Czech plant emission reductions.
We reduced CO2 emissions at our Czech plant by 718 tonnes. Reducing gas consumption during production processes accounted for more than half of the carbon emissions saved.

Increasing rail transportation.
We are increasing the number of cars exported by rail by at least 30%. Shipping by train results in fewer emissions vs. lorry transportation. To facilitate this process, we built a new train moving platform. -
Growing more green spaces.
HMMC planted a further 135 trees and 375 bushes around the grounds of our offices and manufacturing facilities, expanding the green space around the facilities.

Turkey plant emission reductions.
Hyundai Assan Otomotiv Sanayi (HAOS) is reducing GHG emissions by improving processes, installing new energy reduction equipment and high-efficiency inverters and reducing use of compressed air.
